Stay calm. In Springfield and many surrounding Missouri cities, the Fire Department uses a portal called The Compliance Engine (Brycer) to track fire safety. If you don't have your paperwork, it’s likely because your previous tester didn't upload it. Call "The Doctor" immediately at (417) 414-0722. We are registered vendors with Springfield and Joplin Fire Departments; we can perform an emergency inspection and upload your "Compliant" status to the portal before the Marshal issues a fine.
Don't panic, but don't wait! The City of Ozark is strict about the June 1st deadline for the Spring cycle. If your report isn't submitted by then, the city may disconnect your water service and charge additional reconnection fees. Simply call Backflow Doctors at (417) 414-0722. We’ll perform the test, handle all the paperwork, and submit the certification directly to the Ozark Public Water Supply to ensure your water stays on and your property stays compliant.
This is common! The Branson Fire Department is proactive about safety. Usually, they find a deficiency like a painted-over sprinkler head, a closed valve, or an expired backflow tag. Backflow Doctors is NICET-certified and familiar with Branson’s specific fire codes. We can review your inspection report, perform the necessary repairs, and provide the "passed" documentation you need to clear the violation with the Fire Marshal.
A fire pump starts when it senses a significant drop in water pressure. If there isn't a fire, this usually means a pipe has burst, a sprinkler head has been damaged, or your "jockey pump" (the small pump that maintains pressure) has failed. Never turn off a fire pump without a professional present unless you are certain there is no fire but turn off the pump immediately if there is no fire to prevent burning out the motor. Running a fire pump "dry" or while short cycling can cause thousands of dollars in damage.
Most commercial alarms are "waterflow alarms." If water moves through your sprinkler pipes—even due to a small leak or a pressure surge from the city main—the alarm will trigger. Our technicians can investigate your riser room to see if a flow switch is stuck or if a "surge" in the city line tripped your system. We help you silence the noise and fix the underlying pressure issue.
If you hear your compressor cycling frequently, you have an air leak. In a "Dry System" (common in unheated Missouri warehouses), air pressure holds the water back. If that air leaks out, the system could "trip," flooding your pipes with water that might then freeze and burst. This is a "code red" situation. We use ultrasonic leak detection to find these air leaks in Bentonville and Rogers facilities before your system accidentally triggers a water-flow alarm.
Dry systems are filled with pressurized air, not water. If you see water dripping or hear an alarm, your "Dry Valve" may have "tripped" (accidentally opened), or you have significant condensation/corrosion in the pipes. If the air pressure drops too low, the valve thinks a head has opened and floods the system with water. This requires an immediate "Reset and Drain" by a professional to prevent the pipes from freezing and bursting in the winter.
Yes! Whether you are in Joplin (using BSI Online), Branson (using SwiftComply), or Springfield (City Utilities), we are registered power-users of these compliance platforms. We don't just test your system; we manage the entire digital paper trail so you never have to log into a portal or worry about a "Notice of Violation."
Absolutely. We are NICET-certified, which is a critical requirement for testing backflow preventers on fire suppression systems. Whether you have a commercial warehouse in Rolla or a retail space in Springdale, AR, our team ensures your fire lines meet NFPA standards without compromising your building's safety.
Antifreeze is used in wet systems to prevent pipes from freezing in Missouri's sub-zero winters. However, NFPA 25 regulations changed recently: as of 2022, all systems must use UL-Listed "Premixed" Antifreeze. Older "concentrated" solutions are now considered a fire hazard. If you haven't had your antifreeze levels tested in Branson or Harrison, you may be out of compliance. We provide the certified testing and fluid replacement required to keep you legal and frost-proof.
In most cases, if your backflow device is located outside (near your meter or in a hot box), you do not need to be home. We provide "contactless" service across Bentonville, Rogers, and Fayetteville, and we will email your certification report directly to you and the Arkansas Department of Health or your local water department.
A small, persistent drip often means the rubber O-rings or seals have worn out or "pitted" due to the hard water common in the Ozarks. While it might seem minor, a drip can lead to a failed annual inspection and water waste. We carry rebuild kits for all major brands (Watts, Ames, Febco) to fix leaks in Nixa and Ozark homes before they become expensive compliance failures.
Yes! Our "regional rounds" include the entire Lake of the Ozarks corridor, including Osage Beach and Camdenton. We specialize in seasonal winterization for lakeside resorts and high-traffic hospitality properties to prevent freeze damage and maintain fire safety compliance year-round.
Absolutely. Fire system emergencies don't happen during 9-to-5 hours. We provide 24/7/365 rapid response across Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. If your dry system trips at 2 AM or a forklift hits a sprinkler head in your warehouse, "The Doctor" is on call to stop the water and restore your protection.
Annual testing is mandated by both Missouri and Arkansas state laws to ensure that contaminated water (from irrigation, fire lines, or industrial systems) doesn't flow backward into the clean public drinking supply. At Backflow Doctors, we specialize in keeping your property compliant with Springfield City Utilities, Branson’s SwiftComply requirements, and Joplin’s BSI Online filing system.
Don’t worry, unlike some companies that only "test," we are dual-licensed for backflow repair and test. If your device fails, "The Doctors" provide a precision diagnosis and a transparent quote on the spot. We carry common parts for brands like Watts, Wilkins, and Febco to get your water safety back to 100% immediately.

You don't have to! One of the biggest advantages of using Backflow Doctors is our "Total Compliance Management." For our Joplin customers, we handle the entire submission process through BSI Online. We also manage filings for SwiftComply in Branson and City Utilities in Springfield, ensuring you never face a water shut-off notice or late fee.
If you have a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) assembly and it’s discharging a heavy stream of water, it’s actually doing its job—but it signals a problem. Usually, this means debris is stuck in the first check valve or there is a sudden pressure drop in the city main. If you’re in Springfield or Joplin and see this "dumping" effect, don't plug the drain! Call Backflow Doctors immediately. We can usually flush the debris or rebuild the internals on-site to stop the flood and save your water bill.
Yes, a "dumping" or leaking relief valve can waste thousands of gallons of water. If you notice water pooling around your device in Nixa or Ozark, call our 24/7 Emergency Service line. We treat backflow emergencies with the urgency they deserve to save you money and protect your plumbing system.
While many plumbers test backflow as a side job, it is our primary specialty. With 14+ years of experience and specialized licensing from the Missouri DNR and Arkansas Department of Health, we offer faster testing (usually 15-20 minutes), automated yearly reminders so you never miss a deadline, and expert-level repairs that standard plumbers might not be equipped to handle.
This is a deep-dive safety check required by NFPA 25.
A drip in a "Wet System" is usually caused by corrosion or a damaged "link" in the sprinkler head. In the Ozarks the high humidity, internal pipe corrosion (MIC) can eat small pinholes in your steel pipes. If you see brown/rusty water stains on your ceiling in Springfield or Branson, call us to investigate. Ignoring a drip today leads to a ceiling collapse tomorrow.
Never turn off a fire pump without a professional present unless you are certain there is no fire. A running fire pump usually means your system has lost pressure. If you are in Branson or Lake of the Ozarks, our 24/7 emergency team can troubleshoot your pump. Whether it's a "dry" run that needs a reset or a failing jockey pump, we’ll stop the noise and ensure your building is protected.
This is a common emergency in Fayetteville and Bentonville. If your water is off, "The Doctor" provides Priority Emergency Response. We will arrive, test your device, and call the city water department personally with the passing results to expedite your water reconnection .
